ALEXANDRIA, Va. – April 24, 2014 – SBG Technology Solutions, one of the fastest growing and leading engineering and information technology service providers in the United States, and AppleTree, a Washington, D.C.-based education research nonprofit and network of schools, announced a technology partnership to drive innovation in classroom technology. SBG partnered with AppleTree on a two-month systems architecture analysis, to design a new system combining web and mobile application technologies in support of AppleTree’s ground breaking Every Child Ready early childhood learning program.

In cooperation with AppleTree, SBG designed a new system integrating AppleTree’s existing applications and processes into a comprehensive learning management system. The newly designed system will allow AppleTree to automate its student and teacher assessment process, allowing faster input and more sophisticated reporting, better organization of its curriculum materials, and enhancement of its professional development. The system will incorporate the Experience API, the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s next generation standards for training technology, to increase AppleTree’s ability to track and measure student’s and teacher’s learning experiences across a variety of different platforms and technologies.

“As a company with a dedicated interest in the quality of local education systems, we strive to improve outcomes in those institutions. We are thrilled to support a national leader in early childhood education, particularly one with such an impressive track record of success,” said Carlos Del Toro, CEO of SBG. “In working with such a remarkable group of dedicated educators, we have been inspired by the work AppleTree is doing to prepare our nation’s students for success.”

“Support from companies like SBG increases our ability to impact early childhood learning,” said Jack McCarthy, President & CEO of AppleTree. “We will use this generous donation to improve our IT systems and better utilize our Every Child Ready instructional model.” AppleTree alumni recognize 25 percent more letters in kindergarten and have better oral reading fluency in first grade (scoring 20 points higher on tests) than their non-AppleTree peers. Additionally, AppleTree alumni are stronger oral readers by second grade (scoring 70 percent higher).
