Director, Proposal Management

As SBG’s Director of Proposal Management, Al Maiorano brings extensive military command and defense industry leadership experience in surface ship construction, combat systems, weapon system integration, and large defense program management. He possesses a unique and valuable combination of business skills coupled with operational, hands-on experience in and with government and DoD Program Offices and Agencies. Al leverages this experience to identify opportunities for growth, develop solutions, and expand SBG’s position within federal markets.

Expertise

As a Navy surface warfare officer, Al served in multiple command and staff positions. He possesses AEGIS and surface ship combat and weapon system and Federal government planning and budgeting expertise. Following a 27-year career and retiring at the rank of Captain (0-6), his work included corporate leadership positions at Teledyne Brown Engineering and CACI Federal. He has been consistently successful leading the capture and growth of complex defense business opportunities and leading organizations where innovation, integrity, and high retention are pursued and achieved.

Credentials

Al is a graduate of Wake Forest University and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. He holds Master’s degrees in Systems Engineering from Johns Hopkins University Whiting School of Engineering and Business Administration from Marymount University. He previously held Vice President positions at Teledyne Brown Engineering and CACI Federal. He has had articles published in Joint Force Quarterly, U.S. Naval Institute Proceedings, and Navy Times.
